A king who wasn't bad but wasn't great either burned in combat, so his warlocks/wizards did a ritual to bring his soul back to life, putting his corpse inside an iron golem.
When the king came back to life his true colors came through, he was very narcissistic. When the most precious thing he had (his physical body) vanished, the cruel side of him showed up.
He forced his kingdom to make sculptures of his alive version, and he didn't fear death anymore. He would do anything he likes, like killing his own people just for fun.
So, the villagers planned to kill him, throwing liquid metal on him to burn the armor. It almost worked but his rage made him fight. He killed all his kingdom and now he rules alone.
